What will you do: 

Current college students of all levels will work as part of a larger team to provide hands-on support and design/development for various real-world aspects of our business.  This could include work on our Safety Team! In addition to working alongside full-time employees carrying out various functions for NorthStar Clean Energy, Occupational Health & Safety Interns will have the option to participate in several additional optional events within the program. This includes networking events, company tours, and volunteer projects.

Occupational Health & Safety Intern assignments may include opportunities with:

  • Enhancement of our PPE program including trialing and vetting new PPE and creating job aids

  • Assisting with onsite safety assessments

  • Reviewing and updating processes and procedures

  • Assisting Corporate Industrial Hygienist with sampling

  • Utilizing internal software and external programs including Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Share Point, etc.

This position follows a hybrid work model, combining remote flexibility with in-office collaboration. Team members are expected to work 3 days from our Ann Arbor, MI office, with the remaining days remote. The exact schedule may vary based on team needs, project timelines, and individual preferences, and will be discussed during the interview process.

Actively enrolled and pursuing an ABET-accredited Occupational Health & Safety degree.  The following MUST be true to be eligible for an Intern role.

  • Minimum GPA requirement of 2.7 or higher.

  • Candidates for positions with NorthStar Clean Energy must be legally authorized to permanently work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Reliable transportation

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Attitude and aptitude to learn new skills and concepts

  • Ability and willingness to work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks

  • Prior work and/or internship experience

  • Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

This role may require reporting to an assigned location.  Leaders will discuss  the work arrangements which best fit the nature of the work along with overall business needs.
