Key Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers for raw materials, components, and services.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
• Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
• Collaborate with production and planning to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including material shortages and price fluctuations.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and industry trends.

Recommended Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of direct purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for procurement and inventory management.
• Proven negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Strong analytical skills for cost analysis, market trends, and supplier performance.

Bonus Qualifications

• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Experience with specific ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) beyond basic procurement functions.
• Technical understanding of manufacturing processes or materials relevant to the industry.
• Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM).
