Position Overview

Join us in the summer of 2026 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen. We are seeking passionate and collaborative Instructors of Intermediate Acting who embody our core values and are committed to nurturing young artists. As an Introduction to Acting Instructor, you will teach classes within the Interdisciplinary Arts division, while fully immersing yourself in the unique environment that only a summer camp can offer. This position develops and implements high-quality theatre curriculum for talented young students in a program that offers arts training across all the disciplines Interlochen has to offer. Students in the Arts Exploration program take classes in Acting, Creative Writing, Dance, Environmental Exploration, Music and Visual Art. This interdisciplinary program draws the best from our students in a collaborative teaching environment.

What You Get To Do

• Collaborate with fellow instructors to provide meaningful learning opportunities
• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum
• Oversee growth and progress of all students within the program
• Attend weekly departmental meetings
• Create appropriate curriculum for the skill level of the campers
• This position will be responsible with organizing day-to-day interactions with his/her respective campers in the Interdisciplinary Arts division

What You Need

• Availability 06/27/2026 - 08/9/2026
• Prepared to live in a private residence hall room or nature cabin. While we offer accessible housing accommodations, please note that due to the rustic nature of our camp, these options are limited.
• MA or MFA preferred, BA or BFA required
• Candidates should have experience teaching, directing, and working with youth
• Significant professional experience expected

What to Expect about Camp Life

• Rustic Living : You'll be living in a residence hall or nature cabin setting, surrounded by the beauty of northern Michigan; air conditioning is not provided. Wifi is available in all residence halls; it is not available in nature cabins.
• Embrace the Outdoors : The camp is nestled in a wilderness area, so expect to encounter wildlife and insects as part of the experience. Embracing the natural environment is key to enjoying your time here.
• Outdoor Work Environment : Many of your duties will involve working outdoors, often for extended periods, so being comfortable in various weather conditions is important.
• Community and Camaraderie : You'll be part of a tight-knit community where collaboration, creativity, and support are at the forefront. The connections you make here will be lifelong.
