Position: Legal Assistant – Insurance Coverage

Location: Bloomfield Hills, MI

Plunkett Cooney is seeking a detail-oriented legal assistant in our Bloomfield Hills office location. This experienced legal assistant will provide support to one partner and one associate within our Insurance Coverage Practice Group. This position will primarily assist the attorneys with accounts receivable and billing entry review as well as other legal assistant tasks such as e-filing, document preparation, and calendaring.

To be considered, you must:

• Have a litigation background with three to five years of experience
• Have experience in E-filing, including outside states and ability to become familiar with local court rules
• Review all prebills for each attorney and include disbursements
• Maintain attorney email inbox and distribute emails to according to client matters, and bill accordingly
• Run conflict checks, submit new matter forms, and include all necessary attorneys on incoming client documents
• Schedule conference calls and travel arrangements
• Prepare expense reports
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Have experience working with a document management system, preferably iManage
• Have strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, strong problem-solving skills, produce high quality documents with short deadlines
• Be proficient managing busy calendars between multiple attorneys
• Be proactive in cases with ability to produce high quality documents with short deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with legal billing software and time entry systems
• Experience in Insurance Coverage Litigation background
• Ability to review and proofread legal documents
• Experience in coordinating court filings and communication with court personnel
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
