Senior Electrical Engineer
Lang Recruiting is partnering with a well-established engineering consulting firm to identify an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team. This opportunity is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys leading projects from concept through construction, mentoring technical staff, and collaborating directly with clients across a wide variety of commercial and institutional projects.

Position Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer will oversee all aspects of electrical engineering services for building systems projects from initial design through project completion. This individual will serve as a technical leader, collaborating closely with clients, contractors, architects, and internal engineering teams to deliver efficient and reliable electrical system designs.
This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering projects from concept through construction administration
- Design and oversee building electrical systems for a variety of commercial and institutional projects
- Prepare, review, and coordinate electrical construction documents and specifications
- Perform analysis and design related to:
- Power distribution systems
- Emergency generator systems
- Lighting design and controls
- Site lighting and photometric studies
- Fire alarm and security systems
- Sound and telecommunications systems
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and respond to RFIs
- Conduct site visits and construction progress reviews
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Lead and mentor electrical designers and drafting staff
- Assist with budgeting, proposal development, and client relationship management
- Support business development efforts and maintain strong client partnerships
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Michigan required
- Strong experience within the building systems engineering industry
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and industry standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability and willingness to obtain licensure in additional states
- LEED design and certification experience
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
- Prior experience mentoring junior engineers and designers
