Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, overtime as needed

Pay Rate: $22.00 – $29.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Day in the shop

You clock in, pull the next digital work order on your iPad, and load up a rod destined for a heavy-duty hydraulic cylinder. The Kingston engine lathe hums as you dial in center and verify .005 tolerances with a micrometer. Before lunch, you’ve cut crisp OD threads and faced a piston to spec; later, you tack-weld a cylinder bottom for the welding team and prep the next setup on the Magna mill. It’s hands-on, precise, and satisfying work—supported by a close-knit crew that values craftsmanship and safety.

What you’ll handle

• Set up and operate Kingston engine lathes and Magna vertical/horizontal mills for tight-tolerance components.
• Turn, face, bore, drill, and perform ID/OD threading on rods, pistons, cylinder bottoms, and related parts.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and work orders to meet exact specifications.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges (digital and analog) to verify dimensions.
• Perform basic tack welding on cylinder bottoms prior to final welding.
• Carry out daily maintenance on assigned machines.
• Cross-train in hydraulic cylinder repair: teardown, cleaning, inspection, leak/performance testing, and machining or reconditioning to restore tolerances.
• Assist with reassembly and pressure testing.
• Capture accurate, timely job data with an iPad-based work order system.
• Contribute to production goals through clear communication and a clean, safe work area.

What you bring

• 5+ years of hands-on setup and operation on manual engine lathes in a machining/manufacturing setting.
• Proven ability to thread and bail out ; hold .005 tolerance; find true center using calipers and verify with micrometers.
• Fluency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
• Blueprint literacy and strong communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and consistent production quality.

Preferred extras

• Background in hydraulic cylinder repair (preferred, not required).
• Familiarity with boring, milling, grinding, and welding .
• Technical or vocational training in machining or mechanical trades.
• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn new shop processes.

Physical demands

• Lift up to 45 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Strong manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination.
• Comfort with bending, twisting, and safe material handling throughout the shift.
