Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Centerless Grinder Operator to support precision manufacturing operations at our Brighton, MI facility. This individual will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring centerless grinding machines to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate centerless grinding machines (through-feed and/or in-feed).
• Load and unload material and ensure proper machine alignment.
• Adjust machine settings, feeds, speeds, and wheel dressers to maintain part quality.
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and tolerances.
• Monitor production runs and make adjustments as needed to ensure consistency.
• Perform basic machine troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance.
• Document production counts and quality checks per company procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
• Work closely with supervisors, quality, and production teams to meet daily output goals.

Essential Skills

• 2 years of lathe and/or mill CNC machine operating experience.
• Ability to read micrometers and use small hand tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1 year or more experience operating centerless grinders.
• Familiarity with centerless grinding.
• Experience in grinding, metal finishing, metal fabrication shop, sanding, and machine operation.

Work Environment

The work environment is non-temperature controlled and requires the use of PPE such as steel-toed shoes and safety glasses. The shift runs Monday through Friday from 3:15 PM to 1:45 AM, with training on the first shift for one month from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and includes overtime every other Saturday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brighton, MI.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Brighton,MI.
