Senior Accounting Specialist

Summary

Toyoda Gosei Personnel Service is the company for the Japanese expatriates and some of TG North Americas' employees.

The Accounting Specialist functions with a moderate degree of autonomy and is responsible for providing professional level accounting for Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation (TGNA) and TGNA Manufacturing Companies (AMCs).

Engage in accounting-related work 80% of the time and HR-related work 20% of the time.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close
• Complete assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes assuring US GAAP
• Complete general ledger analyses and reconciliations regularly
• Review and process AP/AR accruals monthly
• Create department labor and expense budgets (quarterly, semi-annually, and annually typically)
• Support as a resource in processing payroll and meeting accounting and tax requirements
• Drive optimization by being actively engaged in continuous improvement efforts (Kaizen)
• This role requires the completion of other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
• Three or more years of accounting experience is preferred
• Proficiency in accounts payable processes is preferred
• Bilingual oral and written skills in English and Japanese is required
• Proficiency in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suites 2007 or newer is required
• Ability to consistently meet deadlines is required
• Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills with all staff and management are required
• Sustaining a high degree of professionalism in interacting with internal and external customers is required
• Effective attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills is required
• Experience with ADP or UKG, and JD Edwards software is preferred
