General Statement:

Under the direction of the Office Manager, and within established policies and procedures, facilitates the smooth, efficient and continuous flow of patients through multiple front end systems and processes in an FQHC outpatient medical office setting. Utilizing all modules of the Next Gen Practice Management system, ensures patients are scheduled timely and appropriately based on chief complaint and/or clinic protocol, all demographic and payer information is accurately captured, verified and assessed for correct co-pay collection, proper processes are followed to post, receipt and balance multiple forms of payment, and patients are prepared for the clinical component of their office visit. Collaborates with members of the clinical care team to improve access, reduce backlog and minimize delays along the value stream of the patient encounter. Works closely with patients and serves as the patients’ first point of contact with the clinic care delivery system. Demonstrates an outstanding focus on the patient, as our primary customer. Listens with empathy and respect and is a skilled problem-solver. Works closely with leadership and the clinical team to continuously improve, simplify and mistake-proof clinic processes to enhance the patients' experience; may perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Associates degree in a Health Administration, or Business Administration AND two (2) years current experience in medical front office procedures including: customer service, insurance verification, electronic scheduling, collection of co-pays and posting to accounts

OR

High School graduation or equivalent AND five (5) years current experience in medical front office procedures including: customer service, insurance verification, electronic scheduling collection of co-pays and posting to accounts.

Additional Requirements:

Must be able to exert 20 pounds of force frequently and/or consistently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Must be able to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; pick, pinch, type or otherwise primarily with fingers.

Must be able to apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palms.

Must be able to raise objects horizontally from position to position.

Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Walking and standing also required.

Essential Physical Demands:

• Vision – Position requires the ability to visually assess details at both near and far distances, as well as to perceive depth and spatial relationships with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Hearing – Position requires the ability to receive and respond to verbal communication with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Lifting, Standing, and Walking With or Without Reasonable Accommodations:
  • Position requires the ability to lift up to 35lbs on an occasional basis
  • Position requires the ability to regularly stand for extended periods of time
  • Position requires the ability to walk at a minimum of 35% up to a maximum of 65%
• Position will require the ability to occasionally stoop, bend, or reach to perform work tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
• Position must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including the use of hands and fingers for handling, grasping, typing, writing, or operating equipment with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferences:

Experience in NextGen and Phresia medical systems preferred.

Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) experience preferred.
