Incoming Inspection Technician | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $45,000 - $68,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies.
• Verify incoming material against purchase orders, packing slips, and engineering specifications.
• Document inspection results accurately in quality management systems and logbooks.
• Identify, segregate, and tag non-conforming materials according to established procedures.
• Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials and facilitate their disposition.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment, ensuring their accuracy.
• Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and suppliers to resolve material quality issues.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Demonstrated skill in using a variety of precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM).
• Working knowledge of quality control principles, sampling plans (e.g., AQL), and non-conformance procedures.
• Ability to accurately document inspection results and enter data into quality management systems (QMS/ERP).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual defects or deviations from specifications.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CMM or automated vision system programming.
• ASQ Certification (e.g., Certified Quality Inspector, Certified Quality Technician).
• Proficiency with ERP or Quality Management System (QMS) software.
• Advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) interpretation skills.
