About encompassKids
encompassKids exists to support and strengthen transformational ministries serving children, youth, and families in South Africa . Through local partnerships, the organization works to change the trajectory of young people and families living in communities marked by poverty, abuse, addiction, and HIV—helping them move toward spiritual, emotional, physical, social, academic, and economic well-being .
Founded in 2017, encompassKids provides the North American structure that enables these ministries to flourish through organizational support, partnership coordination, and fundraising .
encompassKids currently supports two key partner ministries:
Courage Youth South Africa (CYSA) is a youth development ministry serving students in the Soweto townships through partnerships with local schools. The program operates in nine school sites and reaches approximately 1,200 youth annually through life-skills classes, after-school youth clubs, career readiness programming, camps, and counseling support. Courage Youth is led by an all–South African leadership team and staff and governed by a board with South African and U.S. representation.
Setshabelo Family & Child Services (SFCS) is a faith-based child protection organization serving communities in Botshabelo Township in South Africa’s Free State Province. SFCS provides child protection, family preservation, foster care, adoption, and crisis services and is the only government-licensed, Black-led foster care and adoption agency in South Africa . In 2023, the Free State Department of Social Development expanded SFCS’s leadership of the Risiha (Resilience) Program , extending its reach across the province and supporting vulnerable children through a network of community-based Child & Youth Care Workers.
Together, these ministries are helping thousands of children and families move from vulnerability toward stability, resilience, and hope .
Growth Opportunity
encompassKids is entering a significant season of growth. Building on strong program outcomes and trusted local leadership in South Africa, the organization is preparing to expand the reach and impact of its partner ministries in the coming years .
Plans include doubling the number of schools served by Courage Youth South Africa , enabling more students to participate in life-skills development, mentoring, and leadership programming. At the same time, Setshabelo Family & Child Services is positioned to double the number of adoptions and increase its capacity to protect vulnerable children and strengthen families through foster care, adoption, and community-based social work services.
To support this next chapter, encompassKids seeks to grow its community of supporters and partners while strengthening the organizational foundation that enables these ministries to flourish .
