Growth and Strategy Analyst

Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary
Identify and analyze opportunities for business expansion and revenue growth within the organization. Research market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities for growth and scalability. Support in the development of strategies and plans that align with the company’s vision and goals. Analyze government policies and regulations related to the industry to identify potential risks and opportunities. Focus on areas of renewable energy adoption, smart grid technologies, energy efficiency, and the development of new electrical infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities
- Conducts market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscapes, customer behavior, and technological advancements impacting the organization.
- Analyzes data from various sources to pinpoint potential areas for business expansion, including new markets, untapped customer segments, and emerging technologies.
- Craft strategies to capitalize on identified opportunities, aligning them with the company's overall vision and goals.
- Assists with development of financial models and scenario analyses to assess the viability of strategic initiatives and forecast business performance.
- Evaluates potential risks associated with business decisions and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Collaborates with various departments, such as regulatory affairs, marketing, sales, finance, and operations, to gather insights, align on objectives, and ensure the effective execution and alignment of strategies.
- Prepares detailed presentations and reports to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Participates in development and implementation of growth strategies to identify new market entry points, optimize product offerings, and improve customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Analyzes data to uncover insights that can inform strategic decisions, including financial modeling, sales forecasting, and performance measurement.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Education and experience requirements must be satisfied through one of the following options:
- Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, business, data analysis, or strategic planning. OR
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Business, Finance, Accounting, or Project Management with 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, business, data analysis, or strategic planning.
Other Qualifications
Preferred
- Comprehensive expertise in electric utility operations , encompassing utility-scale electric power systems, utility-scale renewable energy integration (solar and wind), and utility-scale battery storage technologies.
- Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder engagement capabilities , with demonstrated success in navigating complex discussions among Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Tolling Agreements (TAs), and Build-Transfer Agreements (BTAs) involving regulatory bodies, utility-scale renewable energy and battery developers, internal and external counsels, subject matter experts, and executive management.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and scenario analysis , enabling rigorous evaluation of strategic initiatives and investment opportunities.
- Proven experience in electric project supply chain management , including strategic sourcing, vendor performance optimization, and risk mitigation across utility-scale renewable energy and battery projects.
- Robust regulatory acumen , with deep familiarity with federal, state, and MISO electric industry frameworks; direct experience with Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) processes is highly advantageous.
- Portfolio management expertise , including oversight of executed agreements and active negotiations to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and maximize organizational value.
- Benchmarking and performance optimization expertise , leveraging industry best practices to drive operational excellence and strategic growth.
