Insurance & Billing Specialist

Position Summary
The Billing Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate billing processes and supporting the financial health of the practice. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, reliable, and has a strong attention to detail. You’ll work closely with our administrative and billing team to ensure clients’ billing and insurance matters are handled with accuracy and empathy.
Key Responsibilities
- Process client billing, including generating superbills and sending invoices.
- Verify client insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and billing discrepancies as provided by our third-party biller.
- Maintain accurate financial and client records in the practice management system.
- Communicate with clients regarding billing questions and outstanding balances with discretion and professionalism.
- Assist with monthly reporting and reconciliation of billing accounts.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to improve billing processes and ensure compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
- Support the team by taking on additional administrative or billing tasks as needed to ensure smooth office operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience in medical or mental health billing, insurance claims, or office administration preferred.
- Familiarity with billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills with both clients and team members.
