The Employee Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, communication, and compliance of the company’s health and employee benefits programs. This includes medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness, and retirement plans. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and well-versed in federal and state benefits regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer day-to-day operations of group benefits programs including enrollments, changes, and terminations
Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and issue resolution
Coordinate annual open enrollment processes and support employee education efforts
Liaise with third-party vendors and insurance carriers to ensure efficient plan management
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations such as HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and FMLA
Audit monthly benefits invoices for accuracy and coordinate with payroll for deductions
Maintain accurate benefits records and prepare reports as needed for leadership
Participate in benchmarking and analysis to support benefits strategy and recommendations
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
2+ years of experience in benefits administration or HR generalist role with strong benefits focus
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to employee benefits
Experience with HRIS systems and benefits enrollment platforms
Strong analytical, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification such as CEBS, SHRM-CP, or PHR
Experience with HRIS systems
Familiarity with wellness program implementation and benefits communication strategies
