About the Job:

Journeyman Toolroom Machinist-Grinding Description:

Full-time on-site, toolroom machinist with strong grinding experience. The candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating toolroom equipment to perform the following operations: OD-ID grinding, surface grinding, jig grinding (we can provide time here for the right candidate), Bridgeport milling (both manual and Proto-Trak assisted experience would be a plus), conventional lathes, and a sinker EDM (a plus not mandatory). The candidate will also define and set-up machine side inspection and complete first article inspection reports when required. The candidate will also collaborate with management, quality and engineering teams to optimize processes and provide support for all shop projects.

Work Schedule (Machine Side):

• Mon-Thru 6a.m. - 4p.m.
• Fri 6a.m. - 2p.m.
• Sat (optional) 6 a.m.-12p.m.

Qualifications:

• Proven toolroom experience setting up and operating conventional Grinders such as: OD-ID grinders; Wet surface grinders; Surface grinders.
• Experience setting up and running rotary grinders, B&S #13, and jig grinders would be a plus.
• Experience with sinker EDMs is a definite plus.
• Experience setting up and operating manual toolroom equipment such as chucker’s, turret and engine lathes, Bridgeport mills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Including knowledge and use of GD&T and functional gaging.
• Experience and demonstrated knowledge of cutting tools and their application.
• Experience processing and machining with a variety of materials in various forms (billet, casting, forgings. etc.).
• Ability to design and create fixtures and work holding jigs.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to process jobs with minimal help.
• A demonstrated ability and competence using shop math (algebra, geometry and trigonometry).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machine and tooling issues.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional technical certifications or relevant training is a plus.
