CNC Systems Reliability and Programming Specialist

Role snapshot (Grand Rapids, MI)

Own both the health of our CNC assets and the quality of our programs. You’ll keep equipment reliable, code efficient, and production teams supported.

Primary responsibilities

• Preventive and corrective maintenance for CNC mills and lathes; troubleshoot faults and restore optimal performance.
• Build, modify, and refine CNC programs to meet engineering specs and throughput goals.
• Partner with production to reduce cycle time, improve setups, and eliminate waste.
• Perform safety and quality checks; verify results against drawings and standards.
• Document maintenance actions, program changes, and machine performance metrics.
• Train operators/peers in programming, setup, and maintenance best practices.
• Research and apply emerging CNC technologies and methods.

What makes you effective here

• Diploma or GED required; technical certificate/degree in CNC or maintenance preferred.
• Proven CNC programming and maintenance experience in a production environment.
• Preferred familiarity with aluminum castings and high-volume workflows.
• Comfortable with tooling selection, offsets, and process optimization.
• Read and interpret prints, GD&T, and electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Organized, detail-focused problem solver with strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary to support operations.
