Job Summary:
Central City Health is committed to enabling every patient in our community to thrive by building a collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Medical Assistant (MA) is required to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that emphasizes quality care and customer service. The MA works collaboratively with clinical and support staff in the provision of direct patient services, exhibiting flexibility and a “can-do” attitude. The Medical Assistant serves as a point of contact for other internal and external providers, with the goal of fostering an environment that promotes patient comfort, trust, and team-based care. The MA must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising the utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures all actions represent the organization in a highly professional manner.
- Prepares for patient appointments by reviewing and updating patient records.
- Maintains exam rooms according to protocol.
- Monitors stock inventory and reports low stock to the Clinical Care Manager.
- Triages patients effectively within fifteen minutes of registration time.
- Assist patients in obtaining supportive services.
- Completes thorough and accurate MA assessments.
- Reviews patients’ Care Registry for due or overdue screenings.
- Maintains compliance with productivity requirements.
- Assists the provider upon request during examinations.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary and Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required.
- Must possess knowledge of the healthcare field, including medical terminology.
- Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center preferred.
- Familiarity with medical laboratories and Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR).
- Knowledge of PCMH preferred.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with staff.
- Must maintain confidentiality relating to treatment in accordance with HIPAA.
