Tool Maker/Machinist - 1st Shift
Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Position Summary
The Tool Maker will operate band saw, sanders, grinders, drills, lathes, milling and boring machines to build and repair custom tools, molds, and trim fixtures that are used to manufacture a variety of products. The Tool Maker must be able to ensure quality standards are maintained for each tooling/mold, jigs and fixtures created as they are manufacturing tools and aids used to increase the reliability, accuracy and quality of the manufacturing process while minimizing production cycle times and improving worker safety. Set up, operate and program Vertical CNC milling machines using Master-Cam software is a plus.
Core Functions
- Build, Modify and Repair, prototype and production injection molds, Mold components and tooling when necessary.
- Perform Injection Mold maintenance including cleaning, polishing, Fitting and replacement of worn components.
- Band saw, table saw, powered sander, 2D manual Bridgeport, hand drill, drill press.
- Use and understand measurement equipment such as Indicators, Micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, scales, etc.
- Update production tooling components such as Date stamps, Leader Pins and Shoulder Bushings.
- Build fixtures and Jigs to fit each manufactured part which is vital for optimizing manufacturing processes, reducing scrap material, and improving accuracy and repeatability of processes, reducing the level of skill required to operate jigs and fixtures and increasing productivity.
- Sand and hand polish new and existing molds/tooling for injection mold tooling.
- Sandblast Injection Mold's surface finishes with customers' requirements using our sandblast booth station.
- Design of tooling frames and other structures for tooling.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
- Associate degree or related job experience is required.
- 1-3 years of related experience required.
- 10+ years of related experience preferred.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
- Skilled in operating band saw, sanders, grinders, drills, lathes, milling, and boring machines.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Knowledge of the steps to follow to ensure proper surface finish quality.
- Set up, operate and program Vertical CNC milling machines using Master-Cam software is a plus.

Physical Requirements
- This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
Working Conditions
- The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based environment.
