Heavy Civil Project Manager – Anglin Civil (Westland & Livonia, MI)

Position Summary
The Heavy Civil Project Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of complex civil construction projects—including earthwork, underground utilities, grading, site development, and roadway work. This role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications. The Project Manager provides leadership across field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, serving as the primary point of contact for project schedules, resources, financial tracking, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop overall project schedules, daily plans, and coordinated work sequences.
- Identify required labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor needs.
- Prepare pre-construction plans, project documentation, and permitting requirements.
Construction Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day field operations, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Monitor project progress, productivity, and milestones; adjust plans as needed.
- Review drawings, blueprints, submittals, and job-site documentation.
- Manage field changes, RFIs, and project modifications with proper documentation.
Financial & Resource Management
- Track budgets, costs, labor hours, equipment utilization, and production rates.
- Review and approve invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and purchase orders.
- Identify risks, cost impacts, and opportunities for value engineering.
- Forecast labor and equipment needs for upcoming phases.
Communication & Leadership
- Lead weekly jobsite and planning meetings with field crews, subcontractors, and leadership.
- Serve as the main contact for clients, engineers, inspectors, and vendors.
- Communicate project updates, challenges, and corrective actions to leadership.
- Provide clear expectations, guidance, and support to supervisors and crews.
Quality & Safety
- Enforce company safety policies, site-specific safety requirements, and OSHA standards.
- Conduct site walks and inspections to ensure compliance with plans and quality specifications.
- Address safety concerns immediately and coordinate with safety personnel as required.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in civil construction, project management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of heavy civil work such as earthwork, site development, utilities, or roadway construction.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with construction software (Bluebeam, Procore, project scheduling tools, Excel).
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced outdoor environments and coordinate multiple moving parts.
- Valid driver’s license: ability to travel between job sites as needed.
Working Conditions
- Combination of office, jobsite, and field environments.
- Exposure to outdoor weather, heavy equipment, rough terrain, and active construction zones.
- Early start times, extended hours, or overtime during peak construction phases.
