Mechanical Engineer – ControlsWardcraft | Full-Time | On-Site
Part Mechanical Engineer. Part Electrical Whisperer. All Problem-Solver.Do you get genuinely excited when a machine finally does what it's supposed to do? Can you sketch a bracket in SolidWorks in the morning and troubleshoot a relay panel on the shop floor by lunch? If you're the person your team calls when something mechanical and electrical needs to work together — we want to talk to you.
At Wardcraft, we design and build the electromechanical products that keep real industries running. We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with working knowledge of controls to help us design smarter, build better, and troubleshoot faster.
Requirements: What You'll Actually Be Doing- Designing real products — from concept to finished part — across Wardcraft's full product lineup
- Bridging mechanical and electrical — reading wiring diagrams, working with sensors, relays, and basic PLC logic to make sure your mechanical designs play nice with the electrical systems around them
- Getting your hands dirty — supporting the manufacturing floor with hands-on troubleshooting when something needs a second set of eyes (or hands)
- Being the technical translator — helping Sales and Marketing understand what our products can (and can't) do
- Turning customer specs into real designs — reviewing drawings and requirements, then working with customers and Sales to iron out the details
- Owning the paper trail — drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, test reports — the documentation that keeps everyone on the same page
- Collaborating across teams — jumping into concurrent development and corrective action projects with people from every corner of the company
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or 2–4 years of experience in machine design
- Comfortable in CAD/CAM, GD&T, machining, and materials science
- Proficient with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Project
- A working understanding of basic controls — electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, sensors, relays, and simple PLC logic
- Familiarity with tooling/fixturing design and cold forming processes (pressing, riveting, etc.)
- A "figure it out" attitude and comfort moving between the office and the shop floor
- Full-time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week — with regular overtime and occasional weekend work when projects demand it
- You'll spend time in a professional office and on the shop floor near electrical panels and control cabinets — so comfort in both worlds matters
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and the usual hands-on physical demands of a hybrid office/shop role
We build products that matter, and we back the people who build them. If you like variety, solving real problems, and seeing your designs go from a CAD screen to a working machine on the floor — this is your role.
Ready to bring your mechanical mind and electrical instincts to a team that values both? Apply today.
