Shipping Clerk I
Contract Position - Day Shift position
Pay Rate: up to $21.00 per hour (based on proven work history) Description of the Shipping Clerk I:
- Process packages for deliveries using UPS and FedEx software
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics AX Software
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties:
- Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
- Inserts items into containers
- Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape
- Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers
- Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and/or shortages. Routes items to departments
- Loads all welding and assembly systems on flatbed truck for delivery to customer plants. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
- Plan shipments and organizes transportation for customer deliveries
- Performs light maintenance and cleaning of company owned trucks
- Keeps the Shipping and Receiving area clean and neat at all times
- Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns
- Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 2 years Shipping & Receiving experience
- At least 2 years of Hi-lo experience
