Lead Machinist | Fremont, MI

Salary Range: $55,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, and program complex CNC and manual machining equipment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the machining team.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of machined parts through inspection and process control.
• Troubleshoot machining processes and equipment to resolve technical issues.
• Optimize machine programs and operational procedures for efficiency and material utilization.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration on machining tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to meet manufacturing deadlines and specifications.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a CNC Machinist, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
• Expert proficiency in setting up, operating, and programming multi-axis CNC mills and lathes, including G-code and CAM software.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proven leadership skills, including training, mentoring, delegating tasks, and optimizing team workflow.
• In-depth knowledge of quality control principles, precision measurement tools, and various material properties.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks) for program generation and optimization.
• Experience with advanced metrology equipment, such as CMMs or laser scanners.
• Demonstrated ability to design and fabricate custom tooling or fixtures.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting of CNC machinery.
• Knowledge of machining exotic materials or complex geometries.
