This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. What You'll Work On

• Independently conceives and develops approaches to problem solving that requires advanced technical knowledge of automation, control systems, and electrical design.
• Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project, or in a total project of moderate scope
• Facilitates the design changes using the principals of validation change control
• Stays current with new technology and is able to apply where feasible
• Directs the efforts of others such as technicians and outside resources
• Interfaces with project team members, department managers, designers, R&D and Corporate and Division Engineering
• Able to write Bid/Scope Documents and update engineering standards.
• Able to learn Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) – Allen Bradley and Modicon (Schneider Electric), SCADA system development – GE IFIX, Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming – GE IFIX, Allen Bradley Factory Talk, Ignition, Data Historian Programming – OSI soft
• Complete electrical, controls and software related engineering activities, incorporating best available technologies while adhering to Abbott policies, regulatory requirements, GMP standards, Abbott Engineering Standards and Environmental Health/Safety regulations
• Create equipment/process specifications, drawings and software as required and ensure that existing documentation is accurate and appropriate
• Research, recommend, implement and qualify replacement parts for discontinued/obsolete components, equipment and software

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or closely related technology discipline with an emphasis on electrical systems, controls systems, and software or equivalent work experience
• 0-2 years in electrical engineering or technical positions
• Able to quickly gain knowledge or skill and willingly absorb and comprehend Abbott processes, policies, and methods.
• Able to gain knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritional’s

The base pay for this position is $50,000.00 – $100,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
