This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. What You'll Work On
- Independently conceives and develops approaches to problem solving that requires advanced technical knowledge of automation, control systems, and electrical design.
- Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project, or in a total project of moderate scope
- Facilitates the design changes using the principals of validation change control
- Stays current with new technology and is able to apply where feasible
- Directs the efforts of others such as technicians and outside resources
- Interfaces with project team members, department managers, designers, R&D and Corporate and Division Engineering
- Able to write Bid/Scope Documents and update engineering standards.
- Able to learn Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) – Allen Bradley and Modicon (Schneider Electric), SCADA system development – GE IFIX, Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming – GE IFIX, Allen Bradley Factory Talk, Ignition, Data Historian Programming – OSI soft
- Complete electrical, controls and software related engineering activities, incorporating best available technologies while adhering to Abbott policies, regulatory requirements, GMP standards, Abbott Engineering Standards and Environmental Health/Safety regulations
- Create equipment/process specifications, drawings and software as required and ensure that existing documentation is accurate and appropriate
- Research, recommend, implement and qualify replacement parts for discontinued/obsolete components, equipment and software
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering or closely related technology discipline with an emphasis on electrical systems, controls systems, and software or equivalent work experience
- 0-2 years in electrical engineering or technical positions
- Able to quickly gain knowledge or skill and willingly absorb and comprehend Abbott processes, policies, and methods.
- Able to gain knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritional’s
