Diesel Technician

We are looking for the right candidate to work in our HD repair shop on 2nd Shift and have a three-day weekend...every week. That's right... 2nd shift works Monday through Thursday...4 - ten hour days.
As a Diesel Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet, ensuring safety and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair brake, air systems, electrical, HVAC, drive train and transmission, engine and exhaust, suspension, and steering issues
- Engage with external manufacturers and warranty contacts to maximize reimbursement of services
- Receive annual training from Navistar & Cummins
- Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
- Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order
- Road test vehicles when required
- Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
- Ensure that vehicle is kept clean and notify service advisor immediately of any changes to the appearance or condition of the vehicle
- Keep shop area neat and clean
- Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as when received
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Report any safety issues immediately to management
- Will be required to occasionally perform mobile repairs in our company service vehicle.
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience
- Must obtain and maintain State of Michigan HDT repair certifications
