Public Banking Relationship Manager
Job Summary
As a community bank, Oxford Bank understands the importance and unique financial needs of municipalities, school systems, colleges, libraries, non-profits, health care systems, and hospitals. The Municipal Banking Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with municipal clients, understanding their financial needs and goals. They are accountable for results in this segment including growth in deposits balances and revenue through effective sales, account management, and developing value adds to relationships.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop, actively manage and grow relationships with defined client group.
• Assist municipalities with borrowing needs, such as issuing bonds or securing loans for infrastructure projects.
• Assist clients with revenue collection and management.
• Responsible to stay current with relevant laws that impact clients’ banking or Bank.
• Provide tools and services to help municipalities manage their cash flow, investments, and other financial activities.
• Innovate and recommend new products/services that would improve the clients’ and Bank’s outcomes.
• Create opportunities to sell a full suite of treasury management products and services.
• Market specialized financial services to state, county and local Municipal bodies, school districts, towns, utilities and other special districts.
• Provide Municipal sales leadership and mentorship to branches across the Bank's footprint.
• Proactively call on existing and prospective customers to generate fee income and product depth.
• Be active in the community to develop market presence.
• Help municipalities issue bonds to finance projects like schools, roads, and public buildings.
• Expected to be actively engaged in key organizations, including MACT, MMTA, MWIF, MGFOA, MSBO, MTA, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
• Previous success in financial services sales. Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to analyze and assess risk.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to build strong relationships with customers and employees.
• Strong familiarity with banking procedures and regulations.
• Extensive knowledge of banking products and services offered.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree and/or higher education preferred.
• 5 years of bank management experience required.
• 3-5 years Municipal and/or Treasury Management banking experience required, including 2 years business development and/or sales experience.
*This position will comply with all BSA compliance laws and regulations including the Bank’s BSA policy and procedures.
