Outside Sales – Job Requirements

Location: Grandville, MI

Pay: $65-80k Salary

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical education (mechanical/electrical) is a plus, especially for industrial or technical products.

Key Skills & Competencies

1. Sales & Relationship Management

• Proven B2B outside sales experience, ideally in manufacturing or industrial markets.
• Strong ability to develop and manage distributor and dealer relationships.
• Skilled in solution-based selling and identifying end-user needs.
• Experience negotiating pricing, terms, and volume agreements.

2. Distributor/Channel Management

• Understanding of how to grow business through distributor networks.
• Ability to provide sales support, training, and collaborative marketing efforts.
• Experience with territory management and resolving channel conflicts.

3. Technical/Product Knowledge

• Ability to understand and explain technical OEM equipment.
• Capable of performing product demos, site visits, and basic troubleshooting.
• Comfortable working with engineering and product teams on updates and launches.

4. Communication & Presentation

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Confident delivering presentations to distributors, end users, and internal teams.
• Strong relationship-building and customer engagement abilities.

5. Organizational & Reporting Skills

• Strong time-management and territory-planning capabilities.
• Accurate CRM use (Monday.com preferred).
• Ability to prepare detailed forecasts, territory reports, and pipeline updates.

6. Self-Motivation & Results Focus

• Able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Competitive, driven, and proactive in a fast-paced environment.

Experience

• 3–7+ years of outside sales experience, preferably with OEM or manufacturing products.
• Demonstrated success selling through distributors or dealer networks.
• Experience in construction, agricultural, or material handling equipment is preferred.

Tools & Technology

• CRM systems (Monday.com).
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Quoting/configuration tools.
• GPS and territory logistics software.

Other Requirements

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.
• Overnight travel required.
• Attendance at trade shows, distributor events, and customer visits.
