The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Montague seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate conventional and CNC machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to determine tool specifications.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, as well as repair, on existing tooling.
• Inspect finished tools for accuracy, functionality, and adherence to quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tooling during production runs.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool Maker apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Proficiency in operating and setting up a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Ability to read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Expertise in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM).
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and various materials used in tooling fabrication.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
• Experience operating advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
• TIG/MIG welding experience for tool repair and modification
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels
