About the Role:
The Director of Information Technology in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and implementation of all IT initiatives that support the organization's mission and operational goals. This role ensures the alignment of technology infrastructure and services with healthcare compliance standards, patient data security, and regulatory requirements. The Director will oversee IT operations, manage cross-functional teams, and drive innovation to enhance clinical and administrative workflows through technology. They will collaborate closely with executive leadership to identify technology needs, mitigate risks, and optimize resource allocation. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in enabling the delivery of high-quality healthcare services through robust, secure, and scalable IT solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in IT management, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within the healthcare industry.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems, including EHR platforms, healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA), and data security protocols.
- Proven experience managing IT teams and complex projects in a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement IT strategies that align with organizational goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline.
- Certifications such as Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Experience with cloud computing, data analytics, and telehealth technologies in healthcare settings.
- Familiarity with healthcare quality improvement frameworks and patient-centered technology solutions.
- Strong vendor management and contract negotiation experience within the healthcare IT sector.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the IT strategy aligned with the organization's healthcare objectives and regulatory environment.
- Lead and manage IT teams, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation to ensure high productivity and professional growth.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure and compliant IT infrastructure, including electronic health records (EHR) systems and data management platforms.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to identify technology needs and implement solutions that improve patient care and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and manage cybersecurity initiatives to protect sensitive patient and organizational data.
- Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations to optimize cost-effectiveness and service quality.
- Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions that support healthcare delivery.
