About our client: Our client is a manufacturer and supplier of engineered parts & components to Fortune 500 & 1000 companies including OEMs and Tier 1 companies globally. Our client is a highly regarded machining and assembly supplier to automotive, marine, heavy truck, telecommunications, agriculture, electronics, hydraulics, lighting, medical, furniture, oil and gas, mining, power generations, material handling and many other industries. It supplies engineering components including battery trays and frames for hydrogen as well as the electric vehicle industry.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Director of Supply Chain leads and optimizes the company's end-to-end supply chain operations, encompassing procurement, supplier management, material planning, production scheduling, inventory, logistics, and ERP systems. This role is responsible for establishing operational discipline, standardized processes, clear accountability, and data-driven KPIs across all supply chain functions. Partnering closely with the Plant Manager, Sales, and executive leadership, the Director aligns supply chain strategies with customer demand, manufacturing capabilities, cost management, and company growth. Additionally, this position acts as the primary champion for NetSuite ERP utilization, driving automation, data integrity, and process improvements to eliminate manual work and disjointed spreadsheets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Team Development
- Formulate and execute end-to-end supply chain strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Build, mentor, and coach high-performing supply chain teams; develop cross-training programs, job competency metrics, and standardized work instructions.
- Establish clear roles, operational accountability, process controls, and risk mitigation strategies across the department.
- Oversee departmental KPIs and report performance, trends, and risk analyses regularly to executive leadership.
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Oversee end-to-end purchasing activities, ensuring material availability aligns with production schedules and customer commitments.
- Develop strategic sourcing plans to optimize pricing, lead times, payment terms, and working capital while minimizing purchase price variance (PPV).
- Establish proactive purchasing protocols to reduce reactive buying, emergency orders, and reliance on single-source suppliers.
Supplier Performance & Relationship Management
- Cultivate strategic relationships with key vendors and conduct routine supplier evaluations.
- Implement supplier scorecards to monitor lead times, quality, delivery, pricing, and capacity constraints.
- Address underperformance through targeted corrective action plans (CAPA) and alternative sourcing strategies.
Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Oversee the end-to-end material planning framework, setting optimal safety stock, reorder points, and min/max levels to prevent production disruptions.
- Establish overall inventory strategies to increase turns, manage working capital, and minimize excess or obsolete (E&O) inventory.
- Enforce rigorous inventory control procedures, cycle-counting programs, and real-time transaction tracking to guarantee data accuracy across raw, WIP, and finished goods.
Production Scheduling & Customer Fulfillment
- Own the master production schedule, balancing customer demand, material readiness, labor, machine capacity, and supplier lead times.
- Collaborate daily with the Plant Manager to verify schedule feasibility, establish shop-floor discipline, and limit unnecessary schedule churn.
- Partner with Sales and Operations to proactively identify delivery risks, maintain visibility on open orders, and hit customer delivery commitments.
Freight & Logistics Management
- Direct inbound and outbound logistics networks, carrier selection, and contract negotiations to control shipping expenditures.
- Implement strategies to increase shipment visibility, ensure on-time delivery, and minimize reliance on premium or expedited freight.
NetSuite ERP & Process Standardization
- Serve as the functional owner for NetSuite supply chain modules, maximizing system capabilities and establishing it as the single source of truth.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that eliminate manual spreadsheets, standardize SOPs, automate workflows, and enhance cross-departmental data accuracy.
- Build robust NetSuite dashboards and reports to drive data-based decision-making and operational transparency.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
- Procurement: Purchase Price Variance (PPV), Supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD), Purchase Order Accuracy, Lead Time Accuracy.
- Inventory: Inventory Turns, Inventory Accuracy, E&O Value, Cycle Count Compliance, Working Capital Impact.
- Scheduling & Operations: Schedule Adherence, Material-Related Disruptions, On-Time In-Full (OTIF) Shipments.
- Logistics: Freight Cost as % of Sales, Premium Freight Expense, Carrier On-Time Performance.
- Systems: NetSuite Data Accuracy, System Utilization, Process Compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven track record leading end-to-end supply chain functions: procurement, planning, inventory control, production scheduling, and logistics.
- Hands-on experience implementing, optimizing, or heavily utilizing NetSuite (or comparable Tier 1/2 ERP system).
- Demonstrated ability to build standardized SOPs, establish KPIs, enforce accountability, and drive lean process improvements.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, analytical, and executive-level communication skills.
Preferred
- Industry experience in advanced manufacturing.
- APICS / ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or Lean / Six Sigma certification.
- Direct experience leading ERP system implementation, optimization, or user training programs.
