Development Manager
THE JOB OPPORTUNITY
The Development Manager is responsible for fundraising planning, and implementation, including individual and corporate fundraising, special fundraising events, direct mail, donor research, donor record keeping, and stewardship. The position works closely with Charlotte Street’s Co-Executive Directors to develop and execute a fundraising strategy that will raise $1.5 million in annual income for the organization, with ability to adjust and problem solve as the organization evolves.THE DESIRED CANDIDATE
We are seeking a self-motivated, organized, and clear communicator with great interpersonal skills, administrative experience, andheart for community engagement. The ideal candidate is energized working with people and passionate about the arts—specifically Kansas City’s contemporary artists.SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–5 years of professional fundraising or nonprofit development experience.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong project management abilities
- Experience with donor databases preferred
- There are no educational requirements for this position
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- With Co-Executive Directors, creates and executes annual Development Plan and Calendar
- Manages fundraising-related correspondence including phone call follow-ups, donation acknowledgements, pledge reminders and solicitation letters, and e-blasts to contributors
- Research prospects for new funding
- Cultivates current and prospective individual and corporate donors, including conducting face-to-face meetings, phone, and email contact
- Develops strategy and manages stewardship of all funders, including those contributing in-kind goods and services
- With Co-Executive Directors, develops and manages annual Gala, fundraising campaigns, or other special tactics as identified in development strategy
- In collaboration with Co-Executive Directors, responsible for the recruitment, stewardship, and retention of Gala honorary chairs, event committee chairs and committee members, and building strong relationships with community partners
- Manages fundraising efforts and communication with the Gala Committee
- Represents Charlotte Street externally in attendance at events, discussions, fundraisers, and partner meetings
- Develops relationships and broadens Charlotte Street’s network and strategic partnerships
- Collaborates with Co-Executive Directors to research, plan, cultivate, initiate, and execute major donor and campaign asks
- Collaborates with Co-Executive Directors to cultivate intentional relationships and guide board efforts to advance development and partnership goals
- Works with Marketing Manager to develop fundraising and event communication plans, ensuring adequate time for internal review, digital preparation, printing, and distribution of materials.
- Monitors and evaluates all fundraising initiatives
- Tracks, reports, and analyzes income and Development expenses for annual budgeting and reforecasting processes
- Assist with grant writing as needed
- Other duties as assigned

- Full Time, Exempt, 40 hours per week
- Eligible for FTE benefits including health insurance, flex scheduling, paid vacation, sick time, and holiday
- Pay starting at $60,000/year
WORKING CONDITIONS
Open space office environment. This position requires some evening and weekend work; hours are flexible to accommodate these situations. Charlotte Street operates out of a 20,000 sq ft facility at 3333 Wyoming in the Volker neighborhood of Kansas City, MO.HOW TO APPLY
