Travel Registered Nurse ICU Job
- Role and responsibilities: As an ICU RN traveler, you’ll monitor and manage critically ill patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, and trauma needs. You’ll perform advanced ventilator management, hemodynamic assessments, vasoactive infusions, rapid response escalation, delirium prevention, and ARDS protocols. You’ll interpret lab data, optimize sedation plans, and implement evidence-based practices. Collaboration is essential—you’ll work closely with intensivists, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and the broader care team to create and execute patient-centered care plans. Documentation must be precise, timely, and compliant with regulatory standards, ensuring continuity of care across shifts and units. You’ll also provide education and support to patients and families, helping them navigate critical decisions with empathy and clarity. Professional growth opportunities include expanding into leadership, precepting new travelers or new ICU staff, and pursuing specialty certifications.
- Growth and development: The assignment is designed to foster clinical mastery in critical care nursing, with access to ongoing education, mentorship, and structured opportunities to extend or transition to longer-term roles. Expect pathways to CCRN certification or other ICU specialty credentials, formal orientation programs, and opportunities to assume increasing levels of responsibility as you demonstrate expertise and leadership.
- Benefits and financials: Enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a weekly pay range of $2,260–$2,292 and guaranteed hours of 36 per week. The program includes a sign-on bonus, housing assistance, and opportunities to extend the contract beyond the initial period. You’ll receive comprehensive coverage through a robust benefits package and the security of a formal support network designed for traveling clinicians.
- Support and safety: You are never alone on the road. The traveling team provides 24/7 support, including dedicated nurse coordinators, clinical on-call resources, and troubleshooting assistance to ensure your assignments run smoothly. This cohesive support system helps you focus on patient care while we manage the logistics of travel, housing options, and shift logistics.
