Director of Controls Build

Summary:The Director, Controls leads the software engineering team for the automated assembly systems with the primary focus on control system development, including microprocessor-based servo motion control, analog and digital sensors, network communications, and graphical user interfaces (GUI). They partner with Software Engineering leads as a key contact for customer design teams and maintains this technical relationship throughout the customer development cycle. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports all projects on behalf of the software engineering department from inception through completion of program.
- Aids in selection of software and control design resources outside of the company.
- Creates and nurtures a teamwork environment and supports or participates as project team member.
- Develops, organizes, and controls all aspects of the software engineering department, including department goals, labor forecasts, schedules, project budgets and project manpower.
- Attends to the customer requirements. Gives necessary presentations to the customer.
- Ensures engineering compliance with all customer and/or other pertaining specifications and the company’s awareness to specifications.
- Organizes revisions and creates change information for estimating.
- Aids business development in estimating and conception of new projects.
- Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is required.
- Six years of experience programming in C/C++; must be able to program applications to run on the Windows Operating System.
- Familiarity with a structured coding environment and participation on Academic/real-life projects which involve software and hardware (i.e. robotics).
- Knowledge of Linux and Siemens PLC environment preferred.

Read and understand drawings and schematics (ie: electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics).
- Use computer-aided design (CAD).
- Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
- Familiar with a variety of fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, fixtures, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
- Knowledge of engineering and programming including electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
- Learn and apply new concepts quickly and effectively.
- Highly motivated and keen to work in a fast-paced organization.
- Self-starter, ability to work independently, act and deliver results, exercising high level judgment in the absence of explicit direction.
- Provides check and feedback from independent review of engineering deliverables/documentation (i.e. 3D models, 2D drawings, design presentations.)
- Indoor, Office environment. Temperature controlled.
- No adverse environmental conditions expected.
- Standard work schedule, overtime may be necessary for meeting deadlines, required travel, emergent conditions.
- This position can involve travel up to 50% of the time.

- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
