IMAGING TRANSPORT ASSOCIATE

Overview:

This individual will transport patients to and from dedicated locations within the hospital and help maintain a cohesive workflow in the department. Under general supervision and/or detailed instruction, assists the technologists in preparing patients and examination rooms for diagnostic imaging procedures, and is involved in continual patient contact, performing basic patient care duties. The Imaging Transport Associate demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Responsibilities:

Escorts patients to and from waiting rooms to respective departments.

P rovides appropriate gowning instructions.

A nswers basic questions about exam.

T ransports patients between Imaging and Diagnostic Services Department and other departments and nursing units.

P rovides excellent customer service by constant communications to patients about their time in the department, i.e. how long they have to wait, whether the exam is completed, their comfort level, etc.

P reserves patients privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients information.

E nsures that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements.

E nsures that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect.

U ses proper technique in handling and transporting IVACs, IV poles, oxygen, catheters and other patient equipment.

A nswers phones, transfers calls and relays messages as necessary.

C leans and prepares exam rooms between procedures and maintains supplies for rooms.

M aintains cleans linen and gown supply; responsible for disposal of soiled linen in all rooms.

M aintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties(EPIC, RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.)

P erforms other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

H igh school diploma or equivalent.

S ix months or more experience in a hospital setting or physician office preferred.

S ix months or more PC/computer experience.

 

K NOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

D emonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities and maintains effective working relationships within the organization.

E xcellent knowledge of all hospital campuses.

S uperb interpersonal skills in relationship with patients, families and co-workers.

C urrent BCLS .

A bility to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and the public.
