Job Description
Wash Room Associate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of bins, equipment, and work areas in the wash room. This role supports food safety and production standards by ensuring all items are properly rinsed, prewashed, and sanitized
Responsibilities
- Spray down and rinse bins, containers, and equipment to remove debris and residue
- Perform pre-washing procedures before full sanitation
- Apply soap and cleaning agents according to safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ensure all bins and equipment are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and ready for reuse
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wash room at all times
- Follow proper food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (GMPs)
- Inspect bins and equipment for damage or contamination
- Safely operate wash room equipment and tools
- Dispose of waste and maintain proper drainage areas
- Assist with other cleaning or production support tasks as needed

Work Environment
This position is based in a food and beverage manufacturing facility where hummus and salsa are produced. Most production areas operate in a cold, refrigerated environment to maintain product quality and safety, so you must be comfortable working in low temperatures throughout your shift. You will wear full personal protective equipment in food areas, including a lab coat, hair net, beard net if needed, and rubber gloves, in accordance with strict hygiene and safety standards. The operation runs across three shifts: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with mandatory Saturdays and potential work on Sundays depending on production needs. The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and focused on maintaining consistent quality and safe operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ferndale, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.25 - $16.25/hr.
