The Backwoods Design Build Company is a custom design and build company, based in Plymouth, Michigan. We engage in residential custom designs and construction for new homes and specialty buildings, remodels, additions, and renovations. Our projects are all completed to a set of high standards, excellence in craftsmanship and client experience is key to our success.

We are looking for a an experienced carpenter to join our growing team. The responsibilities include all aspects of rough and finished carpentry in addition to other trade related aspects of our projects, and will vary based on the project. Please do not apply unless you have a minimum of 5 years experience in the field of carpentry. Pay rate will be dependent on skill level.

The experience of an ideal qualified candidate will include the following:

• Ability to read and follow plans and blueprints.
• Strong understanding of carpentry knowledge, best practices and techniques.
• Good math and spatial reasoning skills.
• Knowledge of and ability to work with hand and power tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Capacity to multitask without sacrificing quality or safety.
• Operate safely on a construction site.
• Professional communication skills.

Must-have qualifications

• Valid driver's license

• Able to commute daily to jobsites in or around Livingston, Washtenaw, Oakland, and Wayne counties (MI) as directed by management

• a minimum of 5 years experience in the carpentry trade is required for consideration
