The Sales Manager, under the direction of the VP of Marketing and Sales, reviews the sales strategy that will obtain maximum occupancy levels and highest average rate room rate. The position is responsible for all convention group business related to the market segments which they are assigned, with prospecting, solicitation and oversight of each group. The position is responsible for providing attentive, cheerful, courteous, professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Solicits new business, responds and creates proposals.
- Negotiates contracts, hotel rates, Audio Visual services, and additional services.
- Routes and delegates functions from the meeting planner to the proper department, i.e. Audio Video Changes, Rooming Lists, Food Changes, Hotel Changes, etc.
- Travel to trade shows and represent Kewadin and its products and services.
- Attends and participates in pre and post-convention meetings, review accounts, and communicates to appropriate departments when accounts are ready for billing.
- Collects payment for events.
- Enters bookings into property management systems.
- Prepares, writes, and maintains quarterly sales reports.
- Verifies billing prior to settlement.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Sets up and works slot tournaments.
- All other job-related duties as assigned.
CONTACTS:
Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, executives, customers and outside vendors/service providers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position light with primarily sitting/lifting of maximum of 20 pounds. Physical factors include constant sitting, use of hearing, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, color vision, typing; frequent standing, walking, use of field of vision; occasional carrying/lifting/pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, manual handling and travel. Working conditions include occasional exposure to noise. Potential hazards include constant computer use.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospitality or Sales related fields preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of sales experience required with 3 years preferred.
Certification/License: Will be required to have a criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have working knowledge and be able to use word processing and spreadsheet and database software. Knowledge of Hotel, Sales, and Catering software preferred. Knowledge of convention business is preferred. Knowledge of Hospitality business preferred Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in person, in writing, and by telephone and email. Must have excellent public relation/customer service skills and be able to exhibit friendly and positive attitude and establish and maintain effective communication with co-workers, supervisors and guests. Must possess good leadership skills. Must be able to work under pressure and handle difficult situations. Must be able to travel to trade shows, conventions and other Kewadin Casino locations. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills required. Native American preferred.
