Lead Machinist | Holland, MI

Salary Range: $58,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of machinists, providing technical guidance and training.
• Program, set up, and operate advanced CNC machinery for precision manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot complex machining issues and optimize processes for efficiency and quality.
• Perform quality control inspections on machined parts to ensure adherence to specifications and blueprints.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on new product development and process improvements.
• Ensure all machining operations comply with safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
• Manage tool inventory and recommend new tooling or equipment to enhance capabilities.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a precision machinist, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Expert proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling and turning centers, including CAM software.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proven capability to troubleshoot machining processes, optimize cutting parameters, and ensure stringent quality control standards.
• Strong knowledge of various materials, tooling selection, fixture design, and preventative machine maintenance.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills to effectively lead, train, and motivate a team of machinists.

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced CAM programming proficiency (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360)
• Experience with CMM operation and programming
• Proficiency in CAD software for fixture design or part modification
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
