Estate Planning Attorney
Job Description
Job Description
Estate Planning Attorney – Client Experience Focus
Rutkowski Law Firm is seeking a personable, knowledgeable, and client-focused Estate Planning Attorney to lead families through the estate planning process with clarity, compassion, and confidence. This role is centered around client experience — not just legal analysis.
You’ll guide clients through design, review, and signing meetings, helping them understand their options and finalize plans that protect their assets and loved ones. You’ll be expected to communicate complex legal concepts in everyday language, build meaningful relationships, and deliver a seamless experience from start to finish.
This is an ideal role for an attorney who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to make a direct impact on the lives of families throughout Michigan. If you’re looking for a collaborative, purpose-driven team where client service is just as important as legal precision — this is the opportunity for you.
Compensation:$85,000 yearly
Responsibilities:- Lead Client Meetings: Facilitate estate planning design, review, and signing appointments, helping clients make informed decisions with clarity and confidence.
- Explain Legal Concepts Simply: Break down complex estate planning tools (trusts, wills, powers of attorney, etc.) in plain English so clients feel empowered, not overwhelmed.
- Build Client Trust: Establish rapport quickly and maintain strong, professional relationships throughout the planning process and beyond.
- Provide Legal Oversight: Ensure the accuracy and legal integrity of all documents prepared under your supervision, in alignment with client goals.
- Collaborate with Paralegals & Legal Team: Work closely with support staff to ensure smooth case flow, timely deliverables, and a cohesive client experience.
- Respond to Client Inquiries: Serve as a resource for past and current clients needing clarification, updates, or guidance on their plans.
- Maintain Accurate Case Documentation: Record meeting outcomes and client preferences in our systems to support continuity of service and team coordination.
- Contribute to Firm Culture & Growth: Participate in team meetings, training, and process improvement initiatives aligned with our core values and EOS framework.
- Promote Client Follow-Through: Help ensure clients complete next steps such as trust funding or beneficiary alignment, reinforcing the importance of full implementation.
Required:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice law in the State of Michigan.
- 2+ years of experience in estate planning or a related area of law (e.g., elder law, probate, or trust administration).
- Strong client communication skills — able to explain complex legal concepts in clear, simple terms.
- Confident leading client-facing meetings, both in-person and via Zoom.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong writing and drafting skills, with experience reviewing and editing estate planning documents.
- A proactive, team-first mindset with a desire to collaborate and contribute to a growing practice.
- Comfort with legal technology and systems (we use Clio, Lawmatics, and Monday.com).
- Alignment with our core values and commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.
Preferred:
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in estate planning, with direct client interaction.
- Experience with high-net-worth or complex planning strategies (e.g., irrevocable trusts, asset protection, Medicaid planning).
- Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) structure and terminology.
- Prior experience working in a team-based, client-service-oriented law firm.
- Public speaking or sales experience a plus — especially if you’re comfortable guiding clients toward clear decisions.
We are a fast-growing, client-focused estate planning and elder law firm serving families across Michigan, and what truly sets us apart is how we treat people.
Our mission is to give families peace of mind by making complex legal planning clear, personal, and actionable. We combine top-tier legal expertise with a Disney-level client experience —warm, approachable, and always centered on what’s best for the client.
We operate on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) and are guided by a strong set of core values:
- Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
- Dynamic Chameleon with a Growth Mindset
- Owner Mentality
- Family-Focused
- Disney Experience
- Don’t Act Like an Attorney
We are a collaborative, values-driven, and growth-minded team that believes the legal industry can—and should—be done differently.
If you’re someone who takes ownership, cares deeply about client experience, and wants to be part of a firm that is raising the standard of service in estate planning, you’ll thrive here.
