Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 2 years in behavioral health, pediatric experience License: Michigan Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - 2 years of behavioral health experience - Pediatric experience Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for patient care. RNs provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program and the organization. Principal duties and responsibilities include assessing care needs and developing a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. The Registered Nurse continually reassesses the plan of care according to the care needs. In collaboration with the physician, the RN provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups. Responsible for teaching recipients and their families, the RN also communicates and educates on discharge and aftercare planning needs. Creates a safe and secure environment for recipients and staff in both individual and group settings. Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors and reports any potential risks to recipient safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. Creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards while maintaining professionalism. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with departments, coworkers, and external customers. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Identifies specific needs and implements person-centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments while promoting staff development. Responsible for reviewing protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Provides input for process improvement and promotes careful use of resources. May train direct care staff and oversee medication and physical health activities. May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. Role models the mission and values of the organization, projecting a professional image in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In the community residential setting, supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach. Demonstrates the model of care in hospital and residential areas. Responsible for upholding the healing ministry through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and diversity. Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in required program training. Performs other duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
