The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of production tooling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related production issues and failures.
• Optimize tooling designs and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product introductions and process improvements.
• Specify and select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for tooling components.
• Manage tooling projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of experience in tooling design, fabrication, or maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) for tooling design and analysis.
• Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, injection molding, CNC machining) and associated tooling principles.
• Knowledge of tooling materials, heat treatments, and surface coatings.
• Experience with root cause analysis, DFM/DFA, and continuous improvement methodologies related to tooling performance.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with mold flow analysis (e.g., Moldex3D, SolidWorks Plastics) or FEA software.
• Knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques for prototyping or tooling inserts.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Proficiency in PLC programming or industrial automation principles related to tooling.
