About the Role
The Activitiy Assistant supports the Life Enrichment Director in planning and leading engaging programs for residents in our Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care communities. This role focuses on creating inclusive, enriching experiences that support residents’ well-being while honoring their dignity and individuality. You’ll play a key role in fostering a vibrant, welcoming community where residents feel connected, valued, and encouraged to participate at their own pace.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with planning and leading daily activities and special events for residents
- Engage residents in group & individual activities, adapting to abilities and interests
- Support residents with encouragement, patience, and positive energy
- Collaborate with the Life Enrichment Director and care team to increase participation
- Help escort residents to and from activities as needed
- Monitor resident participation and feedback to continuously improve programming
- Maintain a consistent presence so residents can rely on familiar, trusted staff
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with seniors in an activity, recreation, or life enrichment role
- Comfort working with residents with varying levels of cognitive and physical ability
- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members, residents, and families
- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to drive the community’s 14-passenger handicap-accessible bus (training provided if needed)
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Warm, upbeat, and engaging personality
- Creativity in developing and adapting activities
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Patience and compassion when supporting residents with cognitive or mobility challenges
- Team-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Memory Care or dementia-focused setting
- Dementia care or activities certification
- Experience independently leading group activities
- Familiarity with therapeutic or life enrichment programming

Schedule
Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM (off Sundays & Mondays)
(Schedule may adjust occasionally to meet resident needs.)
