IATF Quality Engineer | Allegan, MI

Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) complies with IATF 16949 requirements.
• Lead APQP and PPAP activities for new product introductions and engineering changes.
• Investigate and resolve internal and external quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).
• Conduct internal audits and support external IATF 16949 certification audits.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process reliability.
• Monitor key quality performance indicators and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure incoming material quality and resolve supplier non-conformances.

Recommended Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge and practical application of IATF 16949 standard requirements.
• Proficiency in Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Demonstrated expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• Minimum 3-5 years of quality engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience conducting internal and/or supplier audits to IATF 16949.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
• Experience with specific ERP Quality Management modules (e.g., SAP QM, Oracle QMS).
• Direct experience managing customer quality concerns or presenting quality data to customers.
