SUMMARY
The Elders Site Coordinator will work with the Department Manager, Elders Workers and other Tribal Staff as appropriate to meet the objectives of the Elders and Cultural Services Programs. Elders Site Coordinators must have a commitment to excellence and caring when working with Elders. Together with other staff, a plan shall be developed and implemented which will allow for ongoing appropriate programs for Elders and serviced by programs at all Tribal Satellites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work a 40-hour week, during appropriate hours based on the Elders programs or as scheduled by supervisor.
- Comply with all GTB policies & procedures
- To be in compliance with the Privacy Act and to maintain the highest level of confidentiality of participants served by the program.
- Attend monthly site coordinator meetings.
- Plan and organize with the Department Manager ongoing training for staff.
- To collaborate with Tribal programs, local, state and state agencies.
- Coordinate with the Elders Services task force staff and other GTB staff to assist in fulfilling participants' service strategies. On a monthly basis and attend training when necessary.
- Plans programs with staff on a weekly basis for Elders, families, and the community to meet objectives of the Elders' Services Programs.
- Is present at planned elders activities and is responsible for maintaining on-site supervision as required by program.
- To recruit Elders aged 55 and older in coordination with the Elders Services Program staff. Outreach and home visits as required encouraging participation in Elders program activities.
- To maintain personal standards of high character and serve as a positive role model for the Elders Program.
- Complete required monthly activity reports within a time requirement including baseline measures.
- To participate in long range program planning.
- Arrange for van pick up of participants as needed or scheduled.
- Maintains an organized elders program record keeping system at the site.
- Perform other duties as assigned that related to the continuing delivery of service.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect.
- Exceptional detail and follow-up skills.
- General proficiency in computer literacy, preferably in Windows, Word, Excel, and use of associated peripherals, and other Microsoft office products.
- Basic general proficiency in 10-key and other office equipment.
- Basic math skills
- Ability to effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Native Americans and their families.
- Must be able to provide accurate communication in regards to required narrative reports.
- Must be able to collect and present data.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED certificate required.
- Minimum three years experience working with Native American Elders.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a valid Michigan Chauffer's License and obtain your CDL within 1 year of hire date.
- Must have a valid unrestricted driver license and be insurable by the GTB insurance carrier.
- Must have current CPR Certification and First Aid Training.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently involves sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Occasionally requires lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Regularly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Regularly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Occasionally requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks. Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS
The Elders Site Coordinator must be able to exercise good judgment regarding the following:
- When and how to respond to requests from the Elders and/or staff.
- Must have the patience to be with elders and participate in and supervise the program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor and outdoor settings. Local travel is frequently required, out-of-town travel is occasionally required.
COMMENTS
Native American Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
