Stamping Tooling CAD Specialist (NX/SolidWorks)

We’re looking for a hands-on CAD expert to drive tooling, product development, and manufacturing outcomes for a sheet metal stamping and forming operation. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Engineering, Product Development, Sales, and Manufacturing to ship designs that hit quality, cost, and schedule.

What You’ll Tackle

• Own the design of tools and dies—accurate, efficient, and aligned with engineering standards and project timelines.
• Generate detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for tooling and manufacturing.
• Build and maintain BOMs, including spare tooling and wear components.
• Keep CAD vaults and documentation clean, organized, and version-correct.
• Collaborate with the tool room to troubleshoot, root-cause, and revise designs.
• Participate in design reviews, weighing customer requirements against production constraints and schedules.
• Deliver complete drawing and documentation packages to internal teams and external customers.
• Contribute through all design phases—conceptual, preliminary, and detailed—in partnership with Engineering.
• Create preliminary die concepts, strip layouts, and full tooling designs.
• Confirm designs meet quoted assumptions, machine capabilities, and customer specifications.
• Select standard components; specify materials and parts to enable on-time purchasing.
• Report progress throughout build and prototype phases; communicate risks early.
• Mentor teammates involved in tooling, design, and prototyping.
• Design prototype blanks and fixtures as required.
• Comply with company quality systems, environmental standards, and customer quality requirements.

What You Bring

• Education: Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, CAD Design, or equivalent combination of education and experience required; Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Background: Formal training and practical experience in tool and die design or engineering.
• Skills: Siemens NX and SolidWorks power user; strong 3D modeling; blueprint/spec interpretation; GD&T; proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office.
