What you can expect:
In conjunction with the Executive Director, the Chief Financial Officer leads the strategic financial planning and budgeting processes including the formulation and implementation of organizational finance-related policies. The CFO has the responsibility to establish and supervise the financial record keeping system and data system, budget and budgetary control system, and preparation of all reports required by the Executive Director, CMH Board and funding sources.
How you will make an impact:
- Posts banking activity to the general ledger weekly and prepares weekly bank deposit.
- Maintains fixed asset inventory and depreciation schedules.
- Creates and posts recurring monthly journal entries.
- Serves as primary contact for auditors during financial and compliance audits.
- Prepares quarterly PA423 revenue report to MDHHS.
- Monitors and responds to the organization’s financial position.
- Preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Preparation of monthly cash-flow reports and forecasts.
- Conducts a minimum of quarterly financial forecasts.
- Preparation of reports required by MDCH, PIHP, SWMBH and auditors.
- Preparation of annual authority budget including detailed program budgets and budget amendments as necessary
- Supervision of the finance department consisting of payroll, payables, receivables, purchasing and inventory.
- Preparation of financial management plan which includes evaluation of separation of duties.
- Preparation of annual service costing.
- Preparation of finance related policies.
- Participates as member of management team and executive leadership.
- Serves as subject matter expert to other senior leaders to support in responding to finance-related questions or issues.
- Serves as Woodland’s representative to external stakeholders on finance and accounting matters and issues.
- Participates in Affiliation-Based management/budget activities as assigned.
- Maintains awareness of trends and developments in accounting and finance planning, management, analyses and administration, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- B.A. in accounting or business administration with strong accounting repertoire
- Knowledge of accounting / financial analyses and applicable laws and regulations
- Problem solving and analytical skills to support in the organization, planning, and direction of activities and operations within areas of responsibility
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Education & Experience Requirements:
- M.A or M.S in accounting or business administration
- Familiarity with government funding
- Access to reliable transportation
Any combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.
ADA Specifications:
- This position is primarily facility-based, however there can be intermittent availability for work from home as designated or agreed upon by immediate supervisor.
- The work pace is rapid, and concentration required is intermittent with an average amount of detail often causing pressure or the feeling of pressure.
- The CFO may be at risk for possible exposure to Hepatitis B and/or C. or other contagious diseases.
- Average travel per week required is approximately three to five hours. Hours will vary with the demands of the job.
