Clinical Supervisor (Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC)
Michigan Wellbeing Therapy Clinic: Clinical Supervisor for LLPCs
Compensation: 10% of supervisees' collected session revenue, paid monthly
Job Type: Contractual position (not a W-2 employee role)
Location: Fully remote, Michigan-based clinic
A Note Before Applying
We ask that all applications be sent by email to the address provided at the end of this posting, since applications submitted through Indeed will not be reviewed. Taking the time to read through the full posting before reaching out helps us identify supervisors whose values and working style align with ours, and we appreciate the care that takes from the very first step.
The Role
We are looking for a fully licensed LPC in the state of Michigan, approved by LARA to provide counselor supervision, to take on supervision of our currently small but growing cohort of Limited Licensed Professional Counselors (LLPCs). At present, we have one LLPC in need of weekly individual supervision, and we anticipate adding to that cohort as the clinic continues to grow. This is a fully remote, contractual position, designed for an experienced counselor who sees supervision as substantive professional work rather than an occasional addition to a full caseload elsewhere.
Your supervisee will meet with you weekly for individual supervision, and you will serve as their clinical anchor as they progress toward full licensure. The relationship you build will shape how confidently and competently they enter the field, and through that, the quality of care our clients ultimately receive. Should additional LLPCs join in time, we are also open to a group supervision arrangement, provided that any such structure remains fully consistent with LARA rules, the Michigan Board of Counseling's supervision standards, the ACA Code of Ethics, and the informed consent of every clinician involved.
About Michigan Wellbeing
Michigan Wellbeing is a fully virtual, integrative mental health clinic serving individuals, couples, and families throughout the state. Our clinicians draw from psychodynamic and relational therapy, somatic and polyvagal-informed approaches, family systems, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, and structured skills-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, and ACT. The client population we serve is wide-ranging, spanning children, teens, college students, adults, and whole family systems, with specialties that include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism and neurodivergence, identity development, executive functioning, parenting, and relational repair. Neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+-affirming, and culturally responsive care is woven into how we practice rather than reserved as a specialty niche.
Our integrative framework is something we take seriously in practice, not in name only. Clinicians here are trained to move deliberately between modalities, so that a single client's treatment can address the cognitive, emotional, somatic, and relational dimensions of their experience in concert with one another. You can read more about our clinical philosophy, our team, and the services we offer at
Supervision at Michigan Wellbeing
Our pre-licensed clinicians receive weekly individual supervision and have ongoing access to consultation with the clinic director. We also host a monthly clinic-wide clinical training, though our LLPC is not required to attend it; that training is offered as a resource for those who want it rather than as a built-in expectation for your supervisee. Documentation standards are made clear from the outset of every clinician's onboarding, and we hold to a 24-hour note completion expectation across the team, which is part of why timely supervisory review of notes matters as much as it does to the overall workflow.
We use SimplePractice as our electronic health record, with scheduling, documentation, billing, and the client portal all integrated into a single platform. The clinic also operates with an async-first communication culture, so most of your contact with the clinic director and the broader team will move through Loom videos, voice notes, and email rather than through recurring live meetings, which keeps clinicians' calendars protected and their time oriented toward client work.
Insurance credentialing, billing, claims submission, eligibility verification, scheduling, and intake coordination are handled by our office manager and administrative team, and marketing is managed separately by its own group. The intention behind that structure is to protect your time so that the clinical work of supervision, which is what we are hiring you for, can remain the center of your attention.
Your Responsibilities
Providing weekly individual supervision to your assigned LLPC in a manner consistent with the Michigan Board of Counseling's standards, the ACA Code of Ethics, and the integrative clinical philosophy of the clinic, in support of both their clinical development and their progress toward full LPC licensure.
Reviewing your supervisee's progress notes within 24 hours of completion, since the clinic's documentation rhythm depends on prompt supervisory turnaround.
Co-signing treatment plans with care for diagnostic accuracy, DSM alignment, clinical necessity, and the integrative framing that shapes how we work.
Maintaining compliance with the documentation expectations of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Aetna, and Priority Health, and working directly with your supervisee whenever quality or compliance concerns arise.
Tracking and verifying the supervised hours your supervisee will need for their eventual full licensure application with LARA, and maintaining the documentation that application will require.
Supporting your supervisee in developing strong clinical reasoning, disciplined documentation habits, and a grounded approach to the range of presentations they will encounter across the arc of their clinical career.
Compensation
Clinical supervisors at Michigan Wellbeing receive 10% of their supervisees' collected session revenue, paid once a month and reflecting all income received in the prior month period, so you always know what to expect and when. Compensation grows directly with the size and revenue of your supervisee caseload, and given how many LLPCs are currently entering the field in Michigan, the room for that caseload to expand is considerable. There is no cap on this arrangement, and we view it as one that rewards continued investment over time.
Insurance Credentialing
We are currently paneled with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Aetna, and Priority Health, and we have a strong preference for supervisors who are already credentialed with one or more of these payers. Familiarity with their documentation standards, prior authorization processes, and billing requirements makes the supervisory relationship more seamless and supports cleaner compliance oversight across the team.
What We Are Looking For
Active full LPC licensure in the state of Michigan, with LARA approval to provide counselor supervision
Clinical experience that includes prior supervisory or mentorship work with pre-licensed counselors, or a clear readiness to take that work on
Working familiarity with BCBS, Aetna, and Priority Health documentation and compliance standards, or a demonstrated ability to come up to speed with payer-specific expectations
Comfort with SimplePractice and with the rhythms of a remote, async-first clinical environment
A real investment in integrative, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming practice, alongside an interest in being part of a training-centered clinical culture
Consistent, timely communication with your supervisee and with the clinic director
To Apply
We are a small, values-driven team, and we are looking for supervisors who are not only well qualified on paper but truly aligned with the work and the way we do it. Along with your resume or CV, we ask that you submit a short introduction in either video or written form, addressing the following:
Your clinical background, and what draws you to a supervisory role at this point in your career
Your experience with supervision, whether as a supervisor or as a supervisee, and how that has shaped the way you approach the work
Your familiarity with the insurance payers we work with, and whether you are currently credentialed with any of them
What excellent clinical supervision looks like to you, and what you hope to bring to an early-career counselor's development
A video of three to five minutes is our preferred format, since it gives us a clearer sense of how you think and communicate, though written responses are equally welcome if that feels more workable for you. Loom (loom.com) is free and produces a shareable link, which tends to be easier than sending a large file by email. If you do end up with a video file too large to send directly, you are welcome to upload it to Google Drive and include the link in your application.
Applications can be sent to [email protected], addressed to the Clinic Director. A cover letter is welcome but not required.
