Staff Accountant
Position Title: Staff Accountant
Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000
Location: On-site
Reports To: Controller
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This role ensures accuracy and integrity of financial information, assists with audit preparation, and contributes to continuous process improvements within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, including balance sheet and key sub-ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Maintain accuracy of the general ledger.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
- Review AP/AR transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies.
- Support invoice processing, payment batches, and aging reports as needed.
- Reconcile customer and vendor accounts, researching variances.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing internal financial statements, variance explanations, and management reports.
- Support preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and external auditor requests.
- Help ensure processes support compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with FP&A, Payroll, and Operations departments to resolve accounting issues and ensure accurate reporting.
- Support the development and implementation of accounting process improvements.
- Participate in special projects, system upgrades, and workflow enhancements as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 1–3 years of general accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Workday, SAP, Oracle, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
