Litigation Legal Assistant

A top tier law firm is seeking a litigation legal assistant for their Oakland County office.

Candidates must have at least one full year of litigation experience supporting 2+ attorneys and have proficient knowledge of:

• E-filing in district, county, and state courts with specific experience in E-filing in Oakland and Wayne Counties
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Prior experience and knowledge of family law is preferred

Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions. Experience in formatting documents. Excellent proofreading skills. Ability to transcribe documents from dictation as needed.
• Efficiently maintain electronic client files. Ensures emails and other electronic documents are properly filed in firm’s document management system. Adhere to practice group protocols and processes.
• Opens new matters, ensuring all client information is complete and compliant with Firm procedures.
• Monitors the status of projects and keeps timekeepers informed of deadlines and commitments. Maintains and tracks docket information, coordinates electronic filings, and interacts with federal, state, and local agencies and courts to ensure timely updates and submission of filings.
• Manages timekeeper calendars, travel, expenses, and meeting logistics. Assists timekeepers with practice group meetings and events.
• Reviews and edits time entries in the timekeeping system before they are released into the billing system, ensuring accurate and complete information is entered before each weekly and monthly deadline.
• Proofreads and edits client billing memos for accuracy and distribution. Coordinates special billing arrangements based on client requests.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while providing an exemplary work product.
