Precision Machining Applications & Quotation Engineer

Step into a day built around solving complex machining challenges

Your morning begins with a new RFQ. You open the quoting database, map out process layouts, run cycle-time and cost calculations, and generate a first-draft pricing proposal for the sales and leadership team. By midday, you might be at a customer site or one of our plants, diagnosing a dimensional concern, reviewing part prints and material specifications, or validating a cleanliness and particle count standard. In the afternoon, you circle back with stakeholders, disseminate critical findings, capture performance indicators, and line up the next round of meetings and follow-ups. Throughout, you are the technical bridge between our precision manufacturing teams and our customers.

What you will do

• Own growth, support, and development of new and existing precision machining initiatives across product teams and plants.
• Define robust manufacturing processes for milling, drilling, grinding, abrasive and surface finishing, heat and surface treatments, tooling, fixtures, work holding, and gaging.
• Build process routes into a structured quotation database to create timely first-draft pricing for review.
• Interpret technical documentation quickly, including drawings, material specs, process flow diagrams, and cleanliness standards, and provide immediate, accurate feedback.
• Troubleshoot issues in real time at customer, supplier, or factory locations and recommend actionable solutions.
• Support quality assurance activities, including APQP.
• Lead field activity: visit suppliers, customers, and plants to gather intelligence and manage technical relationships.
• Prepare concise reports and share key information with the right people at the right time.
• Track and analyze performance indicators to guide decisions and improvements.
• Coordinate and participate in meetings and conference calls with plants and customers; manage quote follow-up.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least three years in manufacturing, machining, or metal forming; or strong project management background with five years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience in sales or customer support within an industrial or technical context.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools.
• Working knowledge of QS9000 or TS16949 (or equivalent) quality systems.
• Comfort with finance and cost management, plus a working knowledge of statistics.
• Applied knowledge of precision machining technologies, including milling, drilling, grinding, abrasive and edge finishing, heat and surface treatments, tooling, fixtures, work holding, and gaging.
