Our Dietary Team plays a vital role in ensuring that each meal is nutritious, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. We are currently seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our culinary department in supporting both our Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing communities.

Position Summary

The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting with the preparation and production of meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, as well as cold food preparation and baking. This position ensures that all food is prepared according to established recipes, dietary needs, and safety standards. The Prep Cook also supports the Cook and assumes cooking responsibilities in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow proper food handling, preparation, and storage guidelines.

• Take and record food temperatures at regular intervals.

• Maintain adequate quantities of food while minimizing waste and overproduction.

• Assist in preparing all food items per the cycle menu, including therapeutic and mechanically altered diets.

• Prepare meals for regular service, catering events, and special functions using approved recipes and production sheets.

• Ensure all food is attractively presented and served at the proper temperature.

• Follow all HACCP and sanitation protocols to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.

• Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment according to the established schedule.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a prep cook or dietary aide in a healthcare, senior living, or institutional setting preferred.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification a plus).

• Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and special diet requirements.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

• Dependable, punctual, and committed to providing quality service.

• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
